The app uses a phone's GPS to detect a car's rate of travel and compares it against the road limit

It’s easy for kids to get bored during long rides and maybe even easier for parents to misuse the gas pedal. The Automobile Club of Romania plans to solve both issues with a new mobile game called Mr. Bear Driver.

The game is easy to play and it’s definitely made for the younger audience: animals are the protagonists and as the name suggests, a bear sits behind the wheel.

Using the phone’s GPS, the game detects the car’s speed and compares it against the road’s speed limit. If the driver goes past the limit, the player loses points unless the car slows down. The child would have to remind the driver to slow down when the limit is being breached. If the speeding doesn’t stop, the kid will lose points and the game will end.
