Humorous tutorials aim to preserve Icelandic culture and geography in the wake of its geothermically hot tourism industry

Known for its active volcanoes and geothermal lagoons, Iceland’s dramatic landscape seems nearly extraterrestrial—which explains why four million travelers flocked to the country in 2014 alone. “Iceland Academy” launched earlier this year with its tongue-in-cheek “How to Avoid Hot-Tub Awkwardness” video, including three new tutorials to help visitors get acquainted with Icelandic culture. While these videos show travelers how to get the most out of their stay, they also advocate for responsible tourism, ensuring the respect of nature just as much as Nordic heritage.
