Data Replaces Diamonds In This Jewelry Line
The designs raise questions about the true value of information in the modern age
psk series is a line of jewelry that replaces traditional gemstones with something equally as valuable in the modern age: data. The jewelry line was co-created by artist Addie Wagenknecht and Peter Sunde, founder of the popular torrents site, The Pirate Bay. The jewelry line is meant to make you reconsider the value of data in the modern world: what's so easily given away for free might in fact be immensely valuable.
There are currently services that make explicit the exchange of data for profit, like Handshake, a UK based company that will help individuals market their data to companies. Handshake's CEO estimated that an average individual could net between $1,600 and $8,000 per year on the platform–entirely comparable with the cost of a diamond ring.
