The Hamdog has achieved internet fame for its bizarre design and clever mashup

The age old question of hot dogs versus burgers may depend on personal preference, but for those who enjoy both, there's a new bun that lets you have the best of both worlds: the Hamdog.

Australian inventor  brought this combination hotdog and burger bun to the public two months ago, and has achieved internet fame. Murray tells CNBC that the idea for the special bun came while he was visiting the United States in 2004: “I had the idea on holiday when I was leaving a bar in Nashville. I grabbed a burger and a hot dog as I was really hungry. I was sitting in the car eating them both at the same time and my wife was looking at me like I was an idiot.” The product will be coming to the United States sometime next year and, yes, Murray already has a patent on the bun.
