The computer system's data technology generated musical scores for Alex Da Kid's first solo project

IBM Watson has starred in commercials and dominated Jeopardy champions, and now, it’s added a new line to its already impressive resume: musical collaborator. Utilizing its proprietary “Beat” algorithm, Watson can study millions of songs and cultural trends, analyzing elements like pitch, time and note sequences to create original scores based on different moods and atmospheres.

In this case, Watson’s findings combined with the talents of hit record producer Alex Da Kid to make “Not Easy”, the first track off Da Kid’s upcoming four-song EP. And if that wasn’t enough, Watson also constructed a visualization of the data used to help design the EP’s artwork.
