Jaguar Land Rover has announced its new global ambassador wh will drive a skills gap campaign that addresses the shortfall of skilled engineers in the UK. Noodle, the Japanese guitarist and founding member of virtual British band Gorillaz, joined the Jaguar Racing team for its first Formula E race season, which kicked off in Hong Kong last weekend. She will aim to inspire young men and women to become future engineers and innovators.

The Royal Academy of Engineering estimates that by 2022 the UK will face a shortfall of 300,000 skilled engineers. Jaguar Land Rover is committed to addressing the skills gap that manufacturing is facing worldwide: The company plans to use its entry into Formula E to promote its position as a business shaping the future of these initiatives. This announcement is a part of Jaguar Land Rover’s investment in ‘Race to Innovate,’ using Formula E as a platform to develop the next generation of electric-powered road cars.
