MAG-LEV Audio is the world’s first levitating turntable. Visually enhancing the experience of listening to vinyl records by levitating the platter, it is a turntable for the future that plays the medium of the past.

The designers have combined their love for music with careful integration of technology and high-range audio components. They said in a press release:

“We wanted to take something close to us and reinvent the entire experience. We wanted to change the way things were done. For months we were exploring what this could be. One day we asked ourselves a question that seemed a little crazy at first. If a vinyl was levitating in the air, could it still produce a sound? Inspired by this curiosity, we decided to find out.”

MAG-LEV Audio has been designed for people who appreciate high quality sound and elegant, unique design. By using innovative, patented technology they have achieved magnetic levitation while maintaining the incredibly precise turning of the platter.

The turntable comes with a preset tonearm and cartridge, so you simply pick your favorite record, move the tonearm into position, and lower the cueing lever. The turntable has platter feet that allow the platter to rest while it is switched off, and elegantly retract when in use.

MAG-LEV Audio includes a 45 rpm adapter, and can easily be switched between 33 rpm and 45 rpm to listen to different types of records. To keep vinyls in the best condition possible, the turntable lifts the tonearm at the end of a record, which keeps them from being scratched and prolongs the life of the cartridge. It has also been designed with a UPS system to protect records and the player even in the event of a power outage.

MAG-LEV Audio is currently raising funds on Kickstarter, where you can pledge $840 for one in imitation wood or $880 for a black turntable. You can check it out in the video below:
