Designer Simon Higby is hoping the playful gear will promote good habits in children

Kids love riding bikes. However, they’re not fond of wearing helmets for safety. This is why Simon Higby, creative partner at DBB Stockholm, thought of a great design that will encourage kids to wear bike helmets: a Playmobil character helmet.

Playmobil is hugely popular among kids, particularly because the characters are very relatable and reflect diverse communities. As Higby’s MBA thesis, he came up with the idea of making a Playmobil character helmet similar to the hair of the character in the game. Working with Clara Prior at the DBB Copenhagen and MOEF, the team came up with the perfect prototype through 3D printing. The aim is for kids to find this design more appealing and prioritize bike safety.
