The KuantoKusta corporate office strategically designs the amount of energy used onto its stairs to incentivize healthy workplace choices

Choosing to take the stairs over the elevator can be tough, even when you're trying to make active lifestyle changes. One office is helping its employees make healthier choices with these calorie stairs that let them know how much energy has been burned while going up each step.

In the newly-designed corporate office for KuantoKusta, one of Portugal's largest superstores, the stairs have a unique addition. Each step has printed the amount of calories taking every step burns on the front, accumulating as the person ascends. The new headquarters, located in Leça do Balio, was designed by Portuguese creative design firm A2Office. By placing the calories on the stairs, it not only reminds employees the benefits of taking the stairs but also helps them keep track of their daily exercise.
