Farm-to-table could get a whole new meaning if this retail giant's plans for 2017 go as planned

Vertical farming may soon reach wider, more mainstream territories as retailer Target has announced plans to trial the concept within select US stores as part of ongoing research and development pursued by its Food + Future CoLab.

According to Vertical Farm, an initiative to bring about awareness on the Vertical Farming movement, “By the year 2050, nearly 80% of the earth’s population will reside in urban centers,” and meanwhile, “the human population will increase by about 3 billion people during the interim,” calling for the need for extreme changes within traditional farming techniques stat.
