Apple’s New Patent Describes A Folding Phone That Clips To A Shirt
The tech company has filed a new design that could make a flipping touchscreen smartphone a reality in the near future
Apple as a company is always looking to set the pace for the next big tech trend. The iPhone 7 did away with the ever popular audio port, but the next iteration may have even more radical items, like being foldable. The tech giant filed for a new patent for a folding smartphone that can be clipped to one’s shirt
The fold is along the middle of the touchscreen phone with a hinge to keep the two halves together. The designs include flexible printed circuit boards to keep the phone running even when folded. If and when exactly Apple will debut this flip phone, the patent doesn’t reveal any additional features so what the final product would look like is a mystery. But it may mean the return of the flip-to-end-call motion that many have missed since flip-phones become obsolete.
