The service provides real-time info on how crowded stores are and how long people spend there

‘Tis the season to make your holiday wish list and check it twice. This year holiday shopping doesn’t have to be a chore thanks to Google, which has introduced three new features to benefit shoppers. Designed to help alleviate some seasonal stress, the new Search and Maps features assist people in holiday shopping, travel planning and entertaining family and friends.

The Popular Times feature in Google Search and Maps, which was added last year, enables people to check how busy places typically are at different times of the week. Now it’s been improved with a Crowd Control feature to provide real-time insights into how crowded a place is at any given moment. This should help shoppers who want to avoid crowds on Black Friday and in the lead-up to Christmas.
