EquiTable is an app that considers privilege when splitting up a restaurant check

A winner of Comedy Hack Day, EquiTable is an app that takes advantage of technology to ensure the bill at the end of a meal is always split fairly. This app not only takes into consideration what everyone ordered or what percentage of tip a party wants to leave— it also considers earning power and wage discrimination, allowing the bill to be split not just equally, but equitably.

EquiTable does this by utilizing data from the Bureau of Labor statistics to calculate how much each person should pay for a meal. Labeled “Affirmative Fractions,” it also takes into consideration the privilege of a diner’s background, especially with regard to gender and racial inequalities.
