Uber India has created a way for parties to pre-purchase Uber rides to get them to venues hassle-free

Coordinating rides for a wedding can be just another headache in the planning process, but Uber is making it a little less stressful. UberWEDDINGS, a new program launched in India, lets users buy promo codes so that guests can get free rides to the venues. The move is meant to tap into the highly lucrative Indian wedding industry, which brings in $14 billion a year.

The mobile-promocode option couldn't come at at better time, since the ban on 500 and 1,000 rupee notes have left many Indians cash-light. “UberWeddings provides an easy way for hosts to ensure that all wedding-related travel in the city is managed through cashless pre-generated promo codes,” said Uber India's General Manager Delhi & NCR Prabhjeet Singh in a statement.
