Volcom is repurposing ocean waste into a new line of sustainably-crafted swimwear

Lifestyle brand Volcom‘s newest line of swimwear is made of recycled fishing nets. With the tagline “Caught up in a Good Thing,” the Simply Solid line repurposes ocean waste into exquisitely-designed sustainable swimwear.

Volcom partnered with Italian fabric company Aquafil to manufacture a product called Econyl, composed of 100 percent regenerated nylon waste. The process involved transforming nylon found in abandoned fishing nets, production scraps and carpet fluff into durable, lightweight and breathable textiles.
