Adidas’ New NYC Flagship Throws A Challenge To Nike
Hoping to capitalize on nostalgia, the impressive retail space opened on Fifth Avenue in New York
For years Adidas has fallen behind Nike in the States. While the brand has deep roots in soccer culture and is a top sneaker retailer in Western Europe, it often appeared out of touch with the average U.S. customer. In recent history though things have begun to shift for Adidas, namely because of the installation of Mark King as President of North American Adidas Group who has been mounting an unprecedented challenge to Nike. At the beginning of the month, Adidas showed just how serious they are competing with Nike in the United States with the opening of its first American flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
