Ian Berry's pieces are created using many layers and shades of denim jeans

For artist Ian Berry, blue jeans aren’t just a fashion statement, but rather his way of perceiving the world around him. Although his artworks resemble oil paintings, when you look closely, you can see that the depth and texture of the artworks has been created using carefully-chosen pieces of denim. Jeans with different washes and fades are selected to produce the painterly effect.


Presented at Catto Gallery in London, Berry’s latest exhibition Behind Closed Doors focuses on life inside the home, comprising a series of interiors and often a lone woman. Check out a teaser below:
