OpenAI is a school for artificial intelligence where programs can learn to do just about anything

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is constantly evolving. San Francisco’s intelligence lab OpenAI recently launched a school for artificial intelligence called, Universe which will operate as a training ground where AI can learn to do just about anything.

There are a number of other AI labs that have been built to train AI such as the University of Alberta’s Arcade Learning Environment, Microsoft’s Malmo and Google’s recently released DeepMind Lab. That being said, Universe’s scope is much bigger than these as it allows AI agents to actually interact with one another and learn multiple applications rather than just one. OpenAI hopes that Universe will be able inspire the development of machines with “general intelligence”—the same kind of flexible brain power that humans have.
