The first in a line of interconnected home products will integrate Amazon's voice-activated system for smarter home living

Digital industrial design company GE is moving forward to create a line of intelligent home products that will provide consumers a suite of tools and customization options. The first product in the series is an LED table lamp that integrates Amazon’s voice-controlled Alexa platform into the design.

Designed by Richard Clarkson, the creator behind the interactive Cloud lighting and speaker system, the Alexa-enabled smart table lamp aims to make the interconnected home experience more intimate. Other Alexa-powered devices like Echo do support Smart Home Devices, but perhaps GE’s system will enable more expansive control. Users can use the table lamp to preset oven temperature, access their home security system, set timers so their home lighting matches their schedules and other features that offer automation and ease of control.
