The fried chicken franchise tries to connect the disconnected with a mash-up of two popular Internet groups

There is a marked decline in split-screen gaming, in which people would play games together and have a screen split in two (or more) different POVs. Now, the majority of games are played online, with each player looking at their own screens. KFC is tapping into that loss of community gaming with a Facebook Live event called ‘KFC VS.’

Created by BBH Live, the social content division of ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty, the campaign is a way of addressing the growing disappointment over the loss of split screen gaming. The Facebook Live session featured YouTube gamers and grimers (which are artists of a musical genre that mixes UK garage and jungle) on the ‘Colonel’s couch’ which holds snacks speakers, and even wet wipes. The two groups battle each other in a two-person fighting game and FIFA 2016, with plenty of trash talk, food, and laughs.
