NERVANA is a new sound device that uses electrical waves to stimulate neurotransmitter production

Despite popular belief, zenning out isn’t as easy as striking a warrior one pose and chanting “namaste.” In fact, reaching a meditative state can be one of the most difficult things to do, often taking years of practice and dedication. Thanks to NERVANA, one might be able to channel their inner zen by simply putting on headphones.

NERVANA is a system that sends electrical waves through the left ear to target the Vagus nerve, which is responsible for the neurotransmitters that make us feel relaxed and focus. The waves work on their own as well as with music for those who relax better to tunes. There is even an Ambient Mode that uses the sounds around the listener to create the calming waves. Allowing the user to control the level of the waves, the intensity dial ranges from 2 to 25 in terms and even includes sensitivity dial to find the best fit for the current situation.

“We wanted to bring the wellness benefits of Vagus nerve stimulation to more people in a non-invasive way that is easy for consumers to use on a daily basis. That’s what NERVANA is all about: making people feel good,” NERVANA cofounder Dr. Richard Cartledge said.

Beginning as an Indiegogo campaign that earned over $1 million USD, it even went on to win the TechStars award for “Lifestyle and Digital Health” category at CES 2016. The system itself costs $319, proving you can put a price on peace of mind.

Check out the step-by-step guide on how it works below:
