Abstract: The Art of Design lets viewers get a look into the brains of renowned creatives

As part of its ever-expanding lineup, Netflix has announced a new documentary series, Abstract: The Art of Design, which will be released on February 10. Produced by Wired’s editor-in-chief Scott Dadich, film producer and director Morgan Neville and RadicalMedia’s Dave O’Connor, the docu-series takes viewers deep into the world of eight prominent designers and their work. Each episode contains one designer, each coming from different design positions, including a stage designer, photographer and a Nike shoe designer.

Dadich promises an engaging documentary, not “restrained, polished, pretty.” Instead, he explains that “Abstract will help you understand the future by seeing the intent behind the objects that surround us—and the beauty in the decisions that led to them.”

While viewers have experienced a recent trend around documentaries that explore professional craft such as Chef’s Table, it is interesting to see the field of design being put put under a similar lens of exploration.
