Edipeel is an all-natural invisible coating that is designed to keep fruit from spoiling too quickly

Say goodbye to finding prematurely-rotten day-old bananas in your work desk! Swooping in to save our sweet, vitamin-profuse friends is a California start-up called Apeel that has created an organic protective barrier for fruit. Extending the life of avocados  and blueberries for up to 30 days, this innovation could bring sweeping changes to the produce industry and grocery aisles.

The plant-derived coating tricks bacteria, fungus and pests into leaving the fruit alone. Two types of products are available: pre-harvest protection (Invisipeel) and post-harvest protection (Edipeel)—the impact of which could end food waste, world hunger (along with Apeel's partnership with The Gates Foundation) and even provide more financial stability for farmers.
