Santa Monica Residents Can Swipe Left Or Right To Vote On Urban Issues

CitySwipe is designed to make it easier for people to voice their opinions on issues in their local area

CitySwipe is an app that lets residents of Santa Monica instantly provide their opinions on transportation, architectural and planning projects. Think Tinder functionality meets civic engagement. While this does not, and should not, replace Town Hall sessions with constituents, it does provide the city with a pulse check on how people feel about projects related to how their downtown will evolve. The speed of data gathering is useful to road test new ideas and troubleshoot hot topics (for example, is there enough parking?). This could be a model for polling sentiments related to public policy, representatives, and other aspects of governing. So get those thumbs ready – the yays, or the right swipes, have it!
