A company dedicated to art history turned to Kickstarter to create a five-inch figure of one of the world's most renowned artists

One of the world's greatest artists, Vincent Van Gogh, has been immortalized both in and out of museums, but Today is Art Day is looking to help the public learn about this troubled artist with a new action figure, complete with detachable ear: the Vincent Van Gogh Action Figure.

The painter of such works as The Starry Night suffered from mental illness, and as a result removed one of his ears. However, the company is not looking to make light of Van Gogh's illness, but rather wanted to create something tactile and fun to encourage others to learn more about art history. The action figure is five inches tall, has a blue coat with a sunflower pinned to his chest, and comes with a paintbrush and replicas of his different paintings. The action figure was created through a Kickstarter campaign, which earned over $79,000 in just 17 days, well beyond its $15,000 goal.
