Pottery Barn has created an augmented reality application for customers to 'test view' their products before purchasing and moving them into their homes

Making sure new furniture works alongside your existing furnishings takes a little time and imagination as a homeowner rarely has the opportunity to bring it into their house to see how it looks pre-purchase. Pottery Barn's latest application may change that as it allows owners to use augmented reality to preview furniture before your bring it home.

The 3D Room View application walks customers through taking pictures of their room and allows them to place any available Pottery Barn product in the room. They can freely move the furniture around to see how it would look in a number of locations. The application also works in an empty room for customers moving into a new residence.

The application makes use of Google's Tango augmented reality technology, meaning it only works on Tango-enabled phones, such as the Lenovov Phab 2 Pro and Asus ZenFone AR.
