The car maker modified their HiLux pickup to make it look like a full sized toy truck

Growing up doesn't mean the end of having toys, it just means they get bigger. The designers at Toyota had this mindset when they were remodeling a HiLux pickup to make it resemble a life-sized Tonka truck, celebrating the 80th anniversary for Toyoka, the 70th for Tonka and the HiLux pickup being the best-selling vehicle of 2016.

To make it properly look like a full sized Tonka truck, several modifications were done. The team replaced the HiLux engine for a four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, gave it 35-inch tires, improved the suspension, added a light bar and raised the truck up by six inches. Though it looked like a Tonka drive, the designers wanted to make sure it drove well. A video below displays its driving capabilities, making it look like the Tonka truck is going through a giant sandbox.

Toyota plans to tour through Australia with the concept truck from the April 1 to June 8.
