Ford has created a crib that lulls babies to sleep by mimicking a car ride

National Sleep Foundation poll found that 76% of new parents have sleep problems—undoubtedly related to the difficulties of getting an infant to sleep. The old solution of taking a newborn out for a spin in the car isn’t always the safest option for a tired parent. So Ford came up with Max Motor Dreams, a crib that simulates a car ride with a gentle hum to replicate the vibrations of a moving car.

The crib looks similar to a normal crib, but with its companion smartphone app, it can do much more. A speaker in the crib plays a quiet engine sound while the crib rocks gently, recreating the sensation of riding in a car. Blinking LED lights also line the crib to mimic passing streetlights. The Max Motor Dreams crib is currently a prototype, but due to interest Ford is considering launching a full-scale production.
