The popular music identifying app forgot songs when UK users tried to search them to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research

Shazam, the popular app, helps people identify songs by listening and displaying the name and artist. In a campaign to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and help fund research, the app started forgetting the songs as it listened.

The Day Shazam Forgot‘ was a special UK campaign in which a user of the app would find that Shazam was having trouble identifying songs. The app would then share information about Alzheimer’s disease and what they can do to help (after giving them their song information, of course). Within hours of the campaign’s start, Alzheimer’s Research UK had 5,000 visitors to its donation page. The integration of this advocacy campaign into a popular app helps connect with a younger generation and expands the methods of reach for causes that need more eyes.
