The unusually-shaped bottle decants the wine while it's poured

There’s a certain luxury in pouring wine from the bottle into a decanter and watching the liquid flow between the two vessels, but sometimes you just want to drink. With the decanter in mind, NYC-based designer Karim Rashid collaborated with Canadian winery Stratus to design a unique wine bottle with an offset stacked design.

Chopped into four pieces, Rashid claims the design makes it easier to pour the wine from the bottle, as the large middle section juts out to create a natural indent for the user to comfortably place their hand.

The edges of the glass bottle also serve the dual purpose of decanting the wine while it pours. The Cabernet Franc contained inside is Stratus’ first unfiltered wine, meaning it was left on the lees longer to allow it to age and develop a rich aroma and taste. When the wine is poured from the bottle, its unfiltered sediment gets caught in the ridges, automatically decanting the wine.
