NotCot designed the patch to fluidly monitor sun exposure and send notifications to an app if the wearer needs sunscreen

NotCot, a community of creatives and design lovers, created a wearable UV patch for La Roche-Posay that monitors a person’s sun exposure. The patch comes with an accompanying application to clearly display this information, notifying a wearer when they should apply more sunscreen or return indoors.

A wearer uses their app by hovering the smartphone’s camera over the patch to see how much UV exposure displayed by a gauge. The gauge ranges from green, yellow, and to red. The app notifies the wearer when they should apply sunscreen and when they should their UV exposure again. The water-resistant patch has multiple layers half the thickness of a human hair fiber to keep the wearable flexible against a person’s skin.

La Roche-Posay will have additional updates about the patch this summer.
