Four benches in a Danish museum garden were designed to encourage people in communal interaction and appreciation of nature

This circular park bench, like a halo hovering above the ground, might call to mind the rings of Saturn. Oui is an installation of public seating in four designs, all made of galvanized steel.

Paris-based designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec designed the outdoor installation for the Kunsthal Aarhus contemporary art museum in Denmark. Two of the circular benches surround trees, one is placed around a fireplace, while the other is situated beneath a giant lantern.

The irregular benches are meant to entice the curiosity of visitors to the museum’s garden. The designers hope that the strategic placement of the seats will lead people to relax, meet and converse with each other, and admire the beauty of nature together.
