ASICS Brazil created a heat-sensitive ad that can help people figure out the right support for them

In running, like with all sports, having the right equipment is key, but many runners have ill-fitting or incorrectly sized shoes that cause injuries. ASICS is looking to help runners of all levels get the right shoes with their new Foot Type Test ad.

Printed in Brazil, the ad uses thermochromic ink to heat-map a person’s foot. All they have to do is stand on it for a few seconds until a footprint appears. From there, they can compare their foot to the three examples on the right to which shoe provides the right kind of support. The ad is sort of a rudimentary gait test which can be done at many speciality running stores, and is aimed more at beginning runners than runners who have already put in the effort to get their specially fitted shoes. However, it’s a great way to get customers to engage with the brand and, potentially, sell shoes to people thinking about getting on the track.
