Pepsi Places Snapchat Barcodes On Millions Of Bottles
The codes came out of a partnership to promote a new limited-edition summer drink, allowing customers to add exclusive filters to their photos
This summer Pepsi is pushing its limited-edition cinnamon-flavored drink, Pepsi Fire, by partnering with Snapchat. Pepsi Fire containers are labeled with barcodes for customers to scan to add exclusive filters to their Snapchat photos.
The filters include floating 3D objects, branded geofilters and an exclusive game called ‘Pepsi Summer Quest.’ The game launches through the Snapchat app, where players run along a predetermined game path, avoiding obstacles and collecting various Pepsi flavors through five summer-themed levels. The first level was released on Memorial Day, with a new level to come out every Monday for the next four weeks.
It has been noted that users will spend over a minute playing a Snapchat game, and Pepsi hopes to pass that benchmark during its summer promotion.
