Strangers’ Kitchens Play Host To Pop-Up Dinners

A meal sharing app called AirDine promises to connect cooks and strangers for at-home dinners

Swedish startup AirDine, which has launched worldwide, turns strangers’ kitchens into pop-up restaurants. AirDine is the Airbnb for dinners: anyone can host a meal at their home and invite strangers to join. Hosts provide information about the location and menu, while guests book reservations through the AirDine app. Hosts get to decide which guests to invite, and they join them at the table.

Like Airbnb, hosts and guests can leave reviews of their experiences. But according to The New York Times, while home cooks are eager to play host on meal sharing platforms, guests are more wary—and the app also contends with logistical problems in cities like New York, legendary for its tiny kitchens.
