The Roast, which opened in Atlanta on June 1, is Whole Foods' first standalone restaurant

To many, Whole Foods is more than just a grocery store, offering a number of prepared meals, beauty, household and healthcare items, and even clothing. Now the organic market brand is looking to expand its horizons even further by opening its first standalone restaurant, a Brazilian barbecue joint called The Roast.

At this new fast casual restaurant in Atlanta, customers select their meals in an assembly line, where they pick out various things to include in their chosen plates and bowls. Options include Brazilian Lamb, Crispy Cauliflower, and Flavors of the Andes bowls. The meats are roasted to order, meaning that the meal arrives warm right off the grill instead of sitting above hot water as at other assembly line eateries. According to Whole Foods, the menu will change seasonally and the establishment offers a full bar as well as vegetarian options.
