Championship Tennis Balls Are Repurposed Into Portable Speakers
HearO took tennis balls from the 2016 Wimbledon Championship and turned them into unique Bluetooth speakers
Rather than throwing away the 2016 Wimbledon Championship tennis balls, a technology group started a Kickstarter campaign to reuse these products and turn them into portable, high-quality speakers called hearO.
The company, which goes by the same name as its product, started its process with the creation of electronic parts in France before shipping them to be assembled inside of the tennis balls in the UK. When a new owner acquires a hearO, they can turn on the speaker with a single button that pairs with a smart device or computer via Bluetooth. With the entire project wanting to promote recycling and respect for the environment, hearO also modeled the speaker design after the Fibonacci spiral.
With the Kickstarter campaign concluded, hearO is available for purchase on the company’s website.
