In Brief

The Mayku offers an easy way to design customized molds at home and use them to cast unique three dimensional designs

DIY designers rejoice—you can now create a three-dimensional mold of an object using a FormBox, designed by technology company Mayku. We covered the device back in May 2016 when it was Kickstarter campaign and after its crowdfunding success, the Mayku team has gone full-steam ahead in bringing the product to fruition.

The device draws power from a vacuum cleaner to heat the material before covering an object. When the material settles, it leaves behind an ideal mold to use on a variety of projects that use resin, plaster, or even chocolate. The heated material can also be placed across objects made from a 3D printer. Essentially the Formbox makes it easier for entrepreneurs to create their own customized products to sell.

On Mayku’s website they have a pre-order page for the FormBox priced at $429, with deliveries estimated to arrive in Winter 2017.
