The world's largest furniture retailer is tapping into young talent to design a new sofa

If you're seeking a new-age sofa, who should you put to the test to develop it? IKEA, Parsons School of Design and British designer Tom Dixon of course.

During a four-day studio workshop, the students worked with IKEA's head of design alongside Tom Dixon to think, sketch and present ideas that could potentially be picked up by the famous retailer. The result was a sofa platform that could be adjusted by adding tables, armrests and lighting, allowing consumers to adapt their sofa area to their current lifestyle needs.

Not only did the project give college students a chance to work closely with a well-known brand and expert designers, but it gave the brand the opportunity to stay relevant and bring in a fresh perspective on design, ultimately providing a better experience for the brand's end consumers.
