O-R3 uses a four-wheeled ground unit and flying drone to act as a robot security patrol team

OTSAW Digital, a robotics company based in Singapore, created a security team made up of two robots: an autonomous four-wheeled unit to patrol at ground level and a surveillance drone to view from above. Together they make the O-R3.

The ground unit contains multiple cameras with the capacity to record with thermal imaging, facial recognition, stereo photography and more. Its programming allows it to detect and avoid obstacles, and when its battery starts to run low it informs the control center as it returns itself to a charging station. O-R3's drone monitors from above, providing a better overview of the site. The two operate separately from each other. The robots were programmed with an advanced machine learning algorithm, making it easier for them to navigate locations they consistently visit. A human can also take manual control of both.

Dubai plans to have the O-R3 on its streets by the end of the year.
