In our latest report, the Future of Health, we explores how the role of data in healthcare has evolved from a static into a living profile that grows with patients.

In May 2017, PSFK surveyed over 170 healthcare professionals in clinical, corporate and creative roles to get their perspectives on the trends driving the future of the industry. An analysis of the results pointed to the larger role that technology will play, both by empowering consumers and introducing more data into the health system. This influx of data will require more sophisticated tools to extract insights that can be leveraged to drive meaningful outcomes at an individual and industry level. Here are a few key findings from that survey:

89% say that providing consumers with platforms that help them understand the correlations that exist within their personal data— both medical and lifestyle—to make smarter choices about their overall wellbeing is important or very important.

AI, wearables and IoT tech are expected to have the greatest impact in the next 2-3 years

85% say it’s important or very important to enable consumers to perform ‘good enough’ diagnostic tests outside of the doctor’s office using personal devices like mobile and wearables.

91% agree that patient data collected through non-medical devices and systems, such as wearables, is important or very important.

92% agree that it is important or very important for the health industry to deploy artificial intelligence and cognitive computing to understand patterns across huge collections of data.
