Fashion designer Ying Gao has created an interactive clothing line called “Possible Tomorrows” that consists of “robotic” garments that are connected to a system that is capable of recognizing and reacting to the presence of a stranger nearby.

The design of the clothes, which are made to move seemingly of their own accord, was inspired by hypotrochoids, a specific type of shape originating from the game Spirograph. With their futuristic look, it is fitting that the robotized garments have the unique capacity to react through movement when their wearer meets a stranger.

Because the pieces are connected to a fingerprint recognition monitor, the clothes become animated only when someone whose print is not recognized by the system passes nearby.
