The online mega-retailer is using Kohl's to solve one of its biggest problems: easy returns

Ask any online retailer what their biggest headache is, and they’ll all probably tell you the same thing: returns. It’s a problem even the mighty Amazon has to deal with, but the company has come up with a smart solution by teaming up with an unexpected partner: Kohl’s.

The retail chain will now be accepting Amazon returns at 82 locations across Chicago and Los Angeles. All returns can be made free of charge, and Kohl’s will even pack any items that need to be shipped, meaning customers can simply drop off their returns hassle-free. Amazon customers will also have designated parking spaces right in front of the store, further speeding up the process.

“This is a great example of how Kohl’s and Amazon are leveraging each other’s strengths—the power of Kohl’s store portfolio and omnichannel capabilities combined with the power of Amazon’s reach and loyal customer base,” Richard Schepp, Kohl’s chief administrative officer, said in a press release.

The return program is the second recently announced collaboration between Amazon and Kohl’s. Earlier this month the two companies also revealed a new Amazon smart home experience that is launching at 10 select Kohl’s locations in Chicago and Los Angeles, meant to show off Amazon’s range of smart home devices. Both the home experience and the returns program launch in October.
