Marmite has marketed itself as a “love it or hate it” treat for years, but the company says it can now tell why people feel the way they do about the salty spread. As part of the Marmite Gene Project, which can supposedly tell whether people are genetically predisposed to liking the stuff, the British brand has also unveiled a digital campaign that uses facial recognition technology.

Guests who visit Marmite’s website on mobile will be able to take the TasteFace test, a digital experience that uses your phone’s camera to read your facial expressions. Based on your reactions, the test can tell whether you’re a Marmite lover or a Marmite hater. Results can then be shared as GIFs on social media, so that everyone in your circle can know on which side of the spectrum you fall.

Marmite also recently debuted a new advertisement to tie into the Marmite Gene Project. The light-hearted ad pokes fun at the product’s divisive status, showing families dealing with the fallout after receiving their Marmite Gene Test.
