Fiber from pineapple leaves create a leather-like textile for these cool, Star-Wars inspired hightops

UK-based shoe designer Po-Zu creates sustainable vegan sneakers made from pineapple leaves. The Resistance limited edition sneaker is part of a Star-Wars inspired collection, and features Pinatex (a woven, leather-like textile created from pineapple leaf fibers, which are usually discarded after the fruit is harvested), combined with woven silver linen. “We go the extra mile to make our shoes ethically and sustainably so you can wear them with clear conscience from dawn till dusk,” says Sven Segal, founder of Po-Zu. The limited-edition sneakers come in silver, black, red or orange, are crafted in Portugal and available for preorder for £150.00 (about $196). The Star Wars inspired range also features vegan “leather” boots and a pair of furry Chewbecca boots.
