The company’s next move, spearheaded by Jeff Bezos, is to enter the sportswear apparel category by teaming up with a Taiwanese supplier to manufacture a private-label brand.

The sportswear apparel category is fairly competitive as it is with brands like Under Armour, Gap Inc. and The North Face building their own equity and specific niche in the market. Amazon’s arrival has the potential to drive down the category average price point if it chooses to undercut its competition.

There’s really no telling how deep Amazon’s product line will go but if its previous success rate is any inclination of what the juggernaut is capable of, the opportunity is limitless.
