Personalized avatars are now available to use on Snapchat

Last year, Snapchat launched New World Lenses to allow users to transform into puppies to puking rainbows. This past year, Snapchat made it possible to utilize the rear-facing camera to turn ordinary environments to 3D experiences. Snapchat wants to take this even further by allowing users to play with Bitmojis.

Bitmojis are from Bitstrips, the company that allowed people to create avatar versions of themselves to be used in online communication. Now, Snapchatters can use their own Bitmojis to apply to their personal Snapchats. As long as a user has a Bitmoji account connected to Snapchat, 3D Bitmojis are an options that can be accessed on the bottom of the screen. The animations can be placed anywhere the user wants.

As competition continues to grow in this space, Snapchat is trying to get ahead of the competition by experimenting more with AR and any other methods that allow users to express and create themselves like never before.
