This Specially-Designed Fork Eliminates Noodle Slurping Noise
Find noodle slurping noises annoying? Nissin's new fork is the cutlery you need
For some, hearing and making noodle slurping sounds is quite annoying. In some countries, people find it rude. So Nissin found a fun, albeit excessive, solution to eliminate the noise: the Otohiko fork.
So how does this special cutlery work? The Otohiko fork must be synced with the smartphone app. Using the smartphone mic, the app can detect the sound of the noodle slurping noise. Once detected, the app will mute the slurping noise and will replace it with “whoosh” or other sounds. There’s also an option for fork users to adjust the sound.
Japan will host the 2020 Summer Olympics and to prevent “noodle harassment” among different cultures, Nissin is hoping that this special fork will not strain ties. Only 5,000 units of the Otohiko fork, which costs $130, will be available for pre-order until December 15.
