Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas Hires Humanoid Robot
Pepper is the hotel's new Technical Ambassador and will greet guests in the Sky Lobby
Luxury hotel Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas has appointed a humanoid robot as its Technical Ambassador. Pepper will mainly be based in the Sky Lobby on the 23rd floor. It will greet guests and complement hotel services through engaging and playful entertainment.
Pepper stands four feet tall, has expressive eyes, and makes humanlike movements and gestures. It can discern a guest’s gender, approximate age and mood, providing personalized communication by detecting facial, body and voice cues. It is able to answer questions about the hotel, give directions, tell stories, dance and pose for a selfie.
