Digital media outlet Refinery29 has let the LGBTQIA community define itself in a nifty new gender glossary that helps define gender-related language by the people who actually identify with each given term.

The Gender Nation Glossary, published in partnership with GLAAD and timed with Transgender Awareness week, features a rolling list of words related to gender and sexual orientation. When clicked, each word features a definition and part of speech, but also a link to someone who identifies with that term defining it in their own way, which is then shareable on social media

The Glossary is a part of Refinery29’s week-long exploration of gender identity and gender fluidity called “Gender Nation,” featuring original stories, photos and videos. Narratives and interviews include profiles of Gigi Gorgeous and rapper Young M.A.; a Q&A titled “It’s Not You” which explores what dating is like for gender non-conforming people; as well as Gender Nation wardrobe diaries; sex tips; what it looks like when religion meets gender identity; and more.

Additionally, Refinery29 will premiere the second set of Trans102 video vignettes, in partnership with MAC Cosmetics. The award-nominated series from director Silas Howard and activist Jen Richards will highlight important conversations around transgender issues in a informative, humorous, and digestible format.

“Gender is both highly personal and also constantly evolving, and should be ultimately defined by each individual having the unique experience,” said Refinery29 Editor-In-Cheif and Co-Founder Christene Barberich. “Gender Nation is Refinery29’s chance to elevate and broadcast the important voices of the LGBTQIA community—to drive cultural literacy for our audience and help raise visibility, explore issues, as well as create a freer dialogue around what factors have power in shaping our identities.”
